Wer kennt es nicht, das berühmte Zitat “Entschuldige den langen Brief, für einen kurzen hatte ich keine Zeit.”?

Wohl so mancher.

Ich zitiere das gern und häufig und bisher immer falsch.
Also mit falscher Quellenangabe, da das Zitat meist Goethe zugeschrieben wird.
10 Minuten googlen später weiß ich, dass der Satz (sehr wahrscheinlich) nicht von Goethe stammt, sondern von Blaise Pascal.

“von blau”, wie der Franzose sagt.

Da mein Französisch aus zwei Wörtern besteht (beide 5 Buchstaben, beide fangen mit “mer..” an), musste ich eine englische Übersetzung des 16. Briefes der Lettres Provincial dieser Aussage zu Grunde legen.

Damit gibt es eine Stelle mehr im Netz, an der es richtig steht

Und jetzt gehen alle kleinen Pfadfinder mit vollbrachter guter Tat ins Bett…

PS. “googlen” oder “googeln”? Wenn letzteres, warum nicht “guhgeln”?
